This guide shows how to get decor help at abc carpet & home, a New York brand founded in 1897 as a pushcart business. It follows the services the site lists and reviews four pieces, from a $326.40 rug to a $2,009 Bok Dining Table. Readers learn where to start a room, one category at a time.
Key Takeaways
- Interior Design and Custom Rug Studio are listed, but costs and steps are not stated.
- The Close Top Mushroom Lamp, $280, is listed as on display in Manhattan and Greenwich.
- The rug is Final Sale, so check its return terms against the 30 day window.
- The Hannah Two Seat Sofa lists an 8-10 week lead time and offers sample swatches.
A new room can feel like too many choices and no first step. Rug, sofa, lighting, or something small like a pillow? abc carpet & home began in 1897 as a pushcart business, and today it calls its Flatiron flagship “the most iconic luxury home design destination in New York City.” This guide follows the help the brand lists on its site, including its Interior Design service, so you can pick a first step.
Why abc carpet & home Is a Good Place to Ask for Help
Before asking anyone for decor help, it helps to know who you are asking. Here is what the brand says about itself, and what its history shows.
- 1897: Sam Weinrib, an Austrian immigrant, started the business by pushing a cart of used carpet and linoleum through Manhattan’s Lower East Side. The business passed down through his family to Paulette Weinrib Cole, who with her husband Evan Cole turned it into a home furnishings store in the 1980s.
- The Flatiron flagship: The store is at 888 Broadway in New York City, and the brand calls it “the most iconic luxury home design destination in New York City.”
- The mission: abc carpet & home says it looks to nature and the world for pieces that stand out for quality, craftsmanship and uniqueness.
That mix is what matters when you are lost on where to start. A brand that has sold rugs for well over a century, and still runs a large New York store, has seen a lot of rooms.
The Help abc carpet & home Lists
The abc carpet & home site lists several services next to its shopping categories. Here is each one, as it appears on the site.
- Interior Design: Listed on the site as a service. Cost, booking steps and how it works are not stated on the pages I reviewed.
- Custom Rug Studio and Broadloom Studio: Both are listed on the site for custom rugs and custom carpet.
- abcTrade: Listed on the site menu. Who can use it: Information could not be verified.
- The rug guide: A guide listed under Rugs & Carpet on the site.
- Catalogs and events: Both are listed on the site.
- Rug cleaning: Offered through a separate site, abchomecare, which the main site links to.
Read each page before you plan around it. The site does not give prices or steps for these services in the pages reviewed, so the page for each one is the place to check how it works and what it costs.
Start With One Category, Not the Whole Room
A whole room is a big job. One category is easier to start with, and the abc carpet & home site is already split that way, from Rugs & Carpet to Bed & Bath.
- If you are starting with the floor: Look at Rugs & Carpet, which includes custom carpet and vintage and antique rugs.
- If you are starting with a big piece: Look at Furniture, which lists in stock, outdoor and custom upholstery.
- If you are starting with light: Look at Lighting.
- If you are setting up a dining space: Look at Kitchen & Dining.
- If you want a small first step: Look at Pillows & Throws.
- If you are working on the bedroom or bathroom: Look at Bed & Bath.
- If you are buying for someone else: Look at Decor & Gift, which includes a gift card.
Pick one, finish it, then add the next.
See It in Person Before You Decide
Some things are easier to judge by looking at them. abc carpet & home has these locations, listed here as reported:
- Flatiron flagship, New York: At 888 Broadway, in New York City.
- Greenwich, Connecticut: At 181 Greenwich Avenue, about 12,500 square feet over two floors, opened in March 2025.
- Southampton, New York: At 1 Pond Lane, about 5,600 square feet, opened in May 2025.
- Brooklyn Outlet: Listed as a collection on the site. A street address is not given on the pages reviewed.
Hours: Information could not be verified, so check the Stores page on the site before you go. If you live far from these locations, the site also sells online in the US, priced in USD.
abc carpet & home Picks to Start With
This section looks at abc carpet & home pieces that work as a first step in a room, from a rug to a lighting piece. Each pick comes from the site’s own categories, so you can start with one item instead of the whole room. Prices, colors and sizes are on each product page, so check them before you order.
Modern Wool Cotton Blend Rug
This is a contemporary rug in a wool and cotton blend, handcrafted in India, from the One Of A Kind Rugs section of abc carpet & home. It suits anyone starting a room from the floor, and the page offers a Rug Specialist appointment to help choose. The size range runs from runner style 2’6″ x 8′ up to 10′ x 14′.
- Wool and cotton blend, which the page describes as durable and soft underfoot.
- Handcrafted in India.
- Colors listed: Blue, Peach, Navy and Beige.
- Eight sizes, from 2’6″ x 8′ to 10′ x 14′.
- Care: vacuum regularly, spot clean spills, and use professional care for hard to remove stains.
Price: The page shows $326.40, marked down from $600.00, but it did not make clear which size that price is for, so check the size you pick. The page lists it as Final Sale and shows “Ships in 1-2 business days.” The site’s free returns within 30 days may not apply to a Final Sale item, so read the return terms for this rug before you order.
Hannah Two Seat Sofa
The Hannah Two Seat Sofa is described on abc carpet & home as an exclusive offering from the brand. It suits readers starting a living room with one big piece who want to choose the fabric, size and legs. The page also offers sample swatches, which helps when you are not sure about a color.
- Two sizes listed, 76 and 86 (the unit is not shown on the page).
- Two leg finishes: Brass or Steel.
- Many fabrics to choose from, with each fabric’s material and care instructions on the page.
- Some fabrics are marked pet and kid friendly on the page.
- Sample swatches can be ordered, and a lead time of 8-10 weeks is listed.
Price: The price depends on the fabric. This page shows $2,995 for Kenley, $3,195 for Nomad and Vickie, and $3,495 for Banks, Brussells, Chalet and Vance. The site’s collection page showed a lower price earlier, so confirm on the product page for your fabric and size. Free ground shipping applies on orders of $250 and up, and the page shows a White Glove delivery option, with its cost not stated. Free returns within 30 days is listed site wide, but the pages did not say how it applies to made to order pieces, so ask before you order.
Close Top Mushroom Lamp
The Close Top Mushroom Lamp is a hand blown glass table lamp that abc carpet & home says is inspired by vintage mid century modern Murano lamps. It suits readers who want a small, low cost first piece for a side table, bookshelf or desk. The page says it is on display at the Manhattan and Greenwich stores, so you can see it before you buy.
- Hand blown glass with a swirling pattern, per the product description.
- Measures 9″ in diameter and 12″ high.
- Colors shown on the page include Pink and White, and the description also mentions green.
- Uses an E27 bulb with a 60 watt maximum. The bulb is not included, and the cord is white and 52″ long.
- Indoor use only, and the page warns not to plug it into an outlet higher than 110v.
Price: The page shows $280.00 and “Arrives in 1-2 Weeks.” Free ground shipping applies on orders of $250 and up, and free returns within 30 days is listed site wide, with terms accepted at checkout. Check the product page for the color you want before you order.
Bok Dining Table
The Bok Dining Table is an Ethnicraft dining table sold by abc carpet & home, crafted in Serbia from solid natural oak or teak. It suits readers setting up a dining room who want to pick the table length and wood finish first, then add chairs. The site pairs it with Ethnicraft’s Bok Side Chair, listed at $959.00.
- Made from solid oak or teak, which the page describes as responsibly sourced hardwood.
- Six lengths from 55″ to 95″ (55″, 63″, 71″, 79″, 87″, 95″).
- Finish options include Oiled Oak, Varnished Oak, Natural Teak and Varnished Teak.
- The oak is finished with hardwax oil, and the 55.5″ listing says it seats up to 6 people.
- Care: dust with a dry, soft cloth, wipe spills right away in the direction of the grain, and use natural soap only.
Price: The page shows $2,009.00, and an earlier collection listing showed $1,999.00, so confirm the price for your size and finish on the product page. It shows “Arrives in 1-2 Weeks” and a White Glove delivery option. The Fall Dining Sale banner (up to 25% off) is on the site, but this table page shows no sale price, so do not assume the discount applies to it.

Summary
This blog followed the help that abc carpet & home lists, from Interior Design and the Custom Rug Studio to a category by category way of starting a room. It reviewed four pieces: the Modern Wool Cotton Blend Rug at $326.40, marked down from $600.00, the Hannah Two Seat Sofa at $2,995 to $3,495 depending on fabric, the Close Top Mushroom Lamp at $280, and the Bok Dining Table at $2,009.
Each piece gave a different kind of starting point. The rug comes in eight sizes from 2’6″ x 8′ to 10′ x 14′, and the sofa offers two sizes, two leg finishes and sample swatches. The lamp is listed as on display at the Manhattan and Greenwich stores, and the dining table comes in six lengths from 55″ to 95″.
Two checks matter before ordering. The rug is listed as Final Sale, while the site lists free returns within 30 days, so the return terms for that item need reading first. The sofa lists a lead time of 8-10 weeks, and the site’s free ground shipping starts at $250, so the size, fabric and timing are worth settling before checkout.
